Cultural Learning Alliance

If we fail to offer our young people the opportunity to
participate in the arts and culture, then we fail to support them in becoming the leading thinkers, innovators, creative business and community leaders of the future

Cultural Learning Alliance signatories show strength of support for cultural entitlement

Published 14 May 2010

In March, we launched the Cultural Learning Alliance and asked people to show their support for a cultural entitlement by signing up to join the Alliance. There has been a great show of strength from across culture and education, parents and the general public with almost 1,000 people signed up so far. This tells us just how important cultural learning is to people across the country.

It’s important that we can show, particularly to government but also to other partners, that cultural learning must not be side-lined either through curriculum reform or because of economic austerity. We can do that more effectively if we can show through our signatories that there is broad and strong support for cultural learning. So we must consolidate on our initial success and continue to bring more people to the Alliance. We’d welcome your help to spread the word to your own networks and partners.

We’ve also been making some changes to the site. Your feedback has told us that many more of you would like to sign up your organisation to the Alliance, as well as signing up as an individual. So we’ve now made that possible to do. New signatories can sign up their organisations via the sign up page. If you've already signed up, email us and we'll add your organisation to the list.

Moving into a new phase for the Alliance in which we can focus more on the delivering against the recommendations from our consultation, it’s important that you can see at a glance what we are up to and ways that you can engage with the Alliance. So we’ve also made some changes to the homepage to take us into that new phase.
